Scarlet Nexus is not a bad at doing action for an action RPG, but it is nowhere near as mechanically complex or intricate as most of the DMC/Bayonetta imitators, let alone those games. It's basically all the moment-to-moment gameplay of a Souls-like with all the frustrating bullshit stripped out and replaced with fun and big anime tiddies. It has an auto-updating minimap, you can have a constant AI companion along to help if you so choose, and it also has a class-based system which basically allows you to entirely change your build at any of the bonfire equivalents at will. Keeping in mind this is just my opinion, but.Ĭode Vein is a Souls-like game with a lot of anime-as-fuck designs which completely streamlines and strips out all the stupid bullshit of a classic Miyazaki Souls-like game.

CODE VEIN NEXUS CODE
Scarlet Nexus does have the bigger focus on characters and cutscenes in comparison to Code Vein. The combat is entertaining, but I wouldn't say it's that deep or challenging. That said, pretty much every enemy has an optimal approach and ability to use against them so whether or not you want to go off the standard path is up to you. You eventually get the ability to combine multiple esper skills that adds more options. Scarlet Nexus has multiple esper abilities including the signature telekinesis one so you have a lot of options on how you want to approach a fight. I have played some DMC and Bayonetta before, but I don't think Scarlet Nexus is as complex or deep as though games. Code Vein has a multiple job system where you can carry some abilities across different jobs after learning them so you can create different builds and experiment. Not to say that it's a cakewalk though because you can easily die by just mindlessly attacking.

I've never played a Fromsoftware game before so I can't compare, but the game isn't too difficult outside a few boss battles and situations.

I enjoyed both, but prefer the ambience, story and world in Code Vein.
